Ethel Mangum

Ethel A. Mangum, Vice President, Regional Manager for Kohl’s Department Stores, has more than 20 years of progressive executive leadership and retail management experience. During her career, she has directed as many as 7,000+ employees across 68 retail locations with revenues in excess of $1 billion.  Ethel leads five (5) director level, multi-store leaders who develop and guide Store Executives to deliver on Kohl’s mission statement and business objectives.

In 2010, Ethel was promoted to V.P. Regional Manager in Milwaukee, WI.  In April 2013, she was assigned the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Ethel has held several other progressive positions within the retail industry.  During her tenure with Kohl’s, she has served as V.P. District Manager in Raleigh, NC and held multiple Store Manager assignments in the Baltimore, MD area.  Prior to joining Kohl’s, Ethel spent 14 years with JCPenney Inc. from Store Manager In-Training (MIT) to Store Management roles.  She advanced to various Regional and District Multi-Store Operations & Merchandising roles.   

Beyond her retail career advancements, Ethel has a passion for supporting local communities.  Ethel is an active leader who has developed strong community partnerships. Through the Kohl’s Cares volunteer program and in conjunction with UNC Children’s Hospital in Durham, NC and Penfield Children’s Center in Milwaukee, WI she supports health & wellness for children.  Ethel also serves as an active, long-time member of Rock Spring Baptist Missionary Church in Wake Forest, NC.  She is also a new member of Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA.  In addition, Ethel’s passion for talent assessment, personal self-development, and fashion assisted in her position as an executive judge and consultant for the annual Miss Black USA of North Carolina.

Personally, Ethel is married to Donnie Mangum and has three step-daughters, two beautiful grandchildren, and a loyal 13 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback.

Ethel Mangum holds a Bachelor of Administration (BA) degree from Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, VA.
