Financial Aid

The financial aid opportunities for Smeal Ph.D. students are outlined.

All Smeal Ph.D. students receive scholarships or assistantships for up to five years, given satisfactory progress toward their degree. The research or teaching assistantships include a tuition waiver, a stipend for living expenses, and a subsidized student health plan (which also provides family coverage).

We also grant financial support for travel to conferences so you can present your work. Other sources of funding made available to students include scholarships, fellowships, and dissertation research grants.

Please check with the Ph.D. adviser of the field you are interested in for up-to-date information concerning the financial aid package. For estimated living expenses, check the information provided by the Bursar’s Office.
