Message from the Dean

Honor & Integrity DNA MarkDear Smeal Community,

At the Smeal College of Business, an essential goal is to prepare our students to enter the workplace with the highest standards of integrity. Our commitment to ethical behavior is an absolute necessity for using business as a force for good in the world.

Led by the Honor and Integrity Director, we strive to promote a culture of integrity that spans awareness to accountability. We encourage everyone in our community—students, faculty, and staff—to speak up when something seems wrong, hold each other accountable, and always act with integrity. We also urge our alumni and recruiters to lead by example and represent Smeal positively and ethically in their professional lives.

The Smeal Honor Code, established by Penn State Smeal MBA students in 2006, actively empowers our community to support a culture of integrity. Each semester, we hold a signing of the Honor Code for all members of our community to commit or reaffirm their support of this code. This is just one of many ways to get involved with integrity initiatives around the college.

I encourage you to actively engage with our integrity initiatives in a way that fits your role in the college. Together, we can reinforce the ethical reputation of our college and University.

Best regards,

Corey Phelps
