Finance Annual Update
Greetings, alumni and friends of the finance department. I’ve concluded my first year as chair and am pleased to report that the department is on solid ground. Though our longtime department chair, Bill Kracaw, retired in June 2024 after 32 years of service, we are committed to continuing Bill’s great work and extending our mission to discover and disseminate knowledge. The 2023-24 academic year was an outstanding year for research productivity, student achievement, and service to the college, university, and society. Within this site, we showcase some of our success stories from the undergraduate program, co-curricular activities, graduate programs, and faculty. We also gratefully acknowledge the support of our Finance Advisory Board. Also within the site you’ll find profiles of students, research faculty, new colleagues, retiring colleagues, and board members. There are descriptions of recent faculty publications and ongoing research agendas to give you a sense for the discovery portion of our mission. On a personal note, I’ll miss working alongside Bill Kracaw and Dean Whiteman, but I am excited about the future of Smeal with our new Dean, Corey Phelps. The fundamentals of our college and department are solid and we are ready to build.
