Tracey honored during 2022 DISCOVER Summit
Steve Tracey, executive director of the Center for Supply Chain Research, was recently named the recipient of the 2022 Lighthouse Award, which honors the advisor of the year, at the 2022 DISCOVER (diversity and inclusion in supply chain) Summit. Walmart, a CSCR corporate sponsor since 2015, was named the 2022 Laurel Crown recipient, which celebrates the sponsor of the year.
Save the date: Executive Insights with Dana Deasy
Mark your calendars for the final Executive Insights event of fall semester. Dana Deasy, a senior advisor at Brighton Park Capital and former chief information officer for the United States Department of Defense, will visit the Business Building on Nov. 11.
Latest issue of Smeal Magazine now available online
The fall 2022 issue of Smeal Magazine is in the mail and available online. This issue’s features include:
- The cover story that explores how Smeal is inspiring generations of families
- A story about research conducted by Matt Gustafson, associate professor of finance and Stuart and Michele Rothstein Early Career Professor, which examines whether differences in views on climate change among Democrats and Republicans have an effect on residential decisions in coastal communities
- A feature about entrepreneur Kathryn Dougherty, a 2009 Smeal graduate who is the founder and CEO of a startup beverage company
- A look at how a team of Smeal students found the right combination of skill, confidence, and mutual respect to win seven case competitions.

Executive MBA graduates profiled on StateCollege.com
Paul and Nancy Silvis, reportedly the first and only couple to complete Smeal’s Executive MBA program, have been named Penn State’s 2022 Renaissance Fund honorees. The couple are the subject of a StateCollege.com feature. Read the story.
