Smeal announces new Executive DBA Program
Smeal announced recently the addition of a new flexible doctorate program designed primarily for senior-level executives around the globe. The college will begin accepting applications this summer for fall 2023 enrollment in the new Executive Doctorate of Business Administration. Read the story.
Cameron honored with 2022 Hendrick Award
Brian Cameron, associate dean of professional graduate programs and executive education, has been honored with the 2022 Shirley Hendrick Award, presented by the Penn State Commission for Adult Learners for service to adult learners. Read the story.
Marketing Department, faculty ranked by AMA for research productivity
The Penn State Smeal College of Business Department of Marketing and two of its faculty, Karen Winterich and Gary Lilien, are included on two lists of author research productivity recently published by the American Marketing Association. Read the story.
Sapphire team places 2nd in international competition
Four Penn State Smeal undergraduate students, all members of the Sapphire Leadership Academic Program, partnered to place second in the 2022 International Executive Challenge at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Read the story.

Nominate a graduate student for a RISE Above Award
The RISE Above Graduate Student Award formally recognizes a graduate student for their commitment to advancing Smeal’s goals of promoting honor and integrity. The commitment can be demonstrated through any combination of behaviors demonstrated in the classroom, research, professional work, or student leadership. CGBS to offer funding for student research assistants
The Center for Global Business Studies funds several students each semester to work with Smeal faculty conducting international business research. Students receive $750 for completing 50 hours of research. The work assigned to students can include research support for publications or conference papers you are working on, or to develop global content in courses you teach. The one-page application form requesting a research assistant can be found online. Return it to Terrence Guay (trguay@psu.edu) by April 22 for fall 2020 semester funding.
Save the date: Smeal Diversity Drop-In Event
Are you interested in being an ally for diversity, equity, and inclusion? We would love to talk to you. Drop by Happy Valley Brewing Company from 4-6 p.m. on April 26 to meet and chat with members of the Smeal Diversity Task Force. Appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. Jean Oelwang book signing: noon – 2 p.m. April 22
Smeal Board of Visitors member Jean Oelwang, a 1987 Smeal marketing alumna, will be at the Penn State Bookstore in the HUB-Robeson Center from noon to 2 p.m. April 22 to sign copies of her book “Partnering: Forge the Deep Connections That Make Great Things Happen.” Oelwang is the founding CEO and president of Virgin Unite. She has worked with partners to lead the incubation and start-up of several global initiatives, including The Elders, The B Team, The Carbon War Room (successfully merged with RMI), Ocean Unite, The Caribbean Climate Smart Accelerator, 100% Human at Work, The Virgin Unite Constellation and the Branson Centres of Entrepreneurship.
