Patrick G. Durbin (’91 Accounting)

Patrick Durbin is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Over his 30-year career, he has combined excellent leadership and oral and written communication skills with a passion for continuing to enhance the impact of, and broader understanding of the role of, the independent auditor in the capital markets' financial reporting supply chain.
Currently, as a Deputy Chief Accountant at PwC, Durbin leads a team responsible for consulting with the firm’s clients on complex accounting matters and developing the firm's point of view and guidance on the application of generally accepted accounting principles in the areas of revenue, compensation, income taxes and several other topics. In addition to client-specific matters, he is actively engaged with the Financial Accounting Standards Board, International Accounting Standards Board, and key capital markets regulators including the Securities & Exchange Commission.
Previously, Durbin led PwC’s Industrial Products Assurance practice in the New York metro region, and served as the lead global audit engagement partner on the integrated audits of multiple billion-dollar plus SEC registrants. Earlier in his career, he completed a two-year Practice Fellowship at the Financial Accounting Standards Board and a two-year secondment to PwC-London as a member of PwC’s Global Capital Markets Group.
Over his entire career, Durbin has been engaged with Penn State through a number of PwC’s campus experiences for students including guest lectures, presenting to student organizations and case study competitions. Currently, he chairs the External Advisory Board for the Accounting Department at Smeal.
