Fred H. Schaefer Scholars in Accounting Program
About the Program
The Fred H. Schaefer Scholars Program in Accounting provides scholarship support of $7,500 annually for Smeal students enrolled in Accounting. The program encourages leadership and ethical standards, a commitment to community service, and a study abroad or international experience.
Who is Eligible
The program is open to full-time third-year and fourth-year undergraduate accounting students and Integrated Master of Accounting (“MAcc”) students. Applicants will be evaluated on qualifications such as
- Academic merit
- Community engagement
- Extracurricular and leadership experiences
Program Requirements
Because the Schaefer Scholars Program requires a commitment to service, leadership and ethics, and an international experience, students in the program will be required to complete certain requirements:
- Attend up to three ethics lectures per semester
- Assume leadership roles in student clubs or organizations of their choosing.
- Take part in an international or study abroad experience (Schaefer Scholars will receive a one-time travel grant of up to $5,000 to support this experience)
Accepted students will remain in the program as long as they remain full time students and in good academic standing.
