Stuart Rothstein ’88 joined Apollo in 2009 and is a Partner and the Chief Operating Officer of Apollo’s global principal finance and real estate business. He is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the group as well as strategic planning and new business development. He is also the Chief Executive Officer, President and a member of the Board of Directors of Apollo Commercial Real Estate Finance, Inc. (NYSE: ARI), a publicly traded real estate investment trust managed by an affiliate of Apollo, that originates and invests in senior mortgages and mezzanine loans collateralized by commercial real estate throughout the United States and Europe.
Prior to joining Apollo, Mr. Rothstein was a Co-Managing Partner of Four Corners Properties, a privately held real estate investment company, focused on opportunistic investments in Northern California office and industrial buildings. Previously, he was employed by KKR Financial Advisors, RBC Capital Markets and the Related Capital Company. Mr. Rothstein began his real estate career at Spieker Properties, an office REIT subsequently acquired by Equity Office Properties, and held various senior finance positions prior to being named CFO in 1999.
Mr. Rothstein is a member of the Board of Directors of The Jed Foundation as well as a Member of the Board of Visitors of Penn State, Smeal College of Business.
Mr. Rothstein was a member of the University Scholars Program and graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He also received an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
